We present the latest results obtained with a quantum cryptography prototype based on a coherent-one way quantum key distribution (QKD) scheme. The full prototype aims to provide 1 Mbps one-time pad (OTP) encrypted communication based on QKD. It will comprise amongst others a 1.25 GHz rapid gating InGaAs/InP single photon detection system, a hardware key distillation engine and optimized LDPC forward error correction. Moreover, it is fully compatible to serve a high-speed encryption device developed in parallel which provides encrypted communication of up to 100 Gbps.
